Paradise

It is a beautiful sunny and breezy Sunday afternoon here in Kempt Head and it is blogging time again.

I just finished answering an e-mail to a guest who is booked to come in later next week. She wanted to know if I had any suggestions of places to visit while they were here. I think I might have written her a novel! When I was done all I wanted to do was hop in the car and go for a tour!

I must admit. I have been feeling a little bit sorry for myself the past few months. Dave’s erratic work schedule and our farm commitments were making me feel tied down and a bit trapped. In the “off season” the farm makes it nearly impossible to plan a weekend or longer away. Trying to work day trips around B&B bookings and Dave’s work schedule is nearly impossible as well. Every day when I looked out the window all I saw was work to be done.

I am over that now. It took some B&B guests and a lovely young lady from Poland to remind me how amazing and wonderful this farm is. More important, they reminded me how lucky I am to be able to live in a place like this. And, I am truly having fun with the Bed and Breakfast. All of our guests have been awesome. We even had a visit from the tooth fairy the other night!

Next month we will have owned this little piece of heaven for four years. In many ways it feels like we have always been here. I will never forget my Ontario roots but, deep in my soul, I know that here, in Cape Breton, is where I was meant to be.

I have decided that my favourite place to be is right here on the deck with the hummingbirds and the view (and my tea).

Until next time …

~Terri
